Lost & Found: Finding My Voice Through Art and Community
Share
As an artist, there’s a certain irony in feeling “lost in translation.” Art is supposed to be a universal language, yet there are moments when my ideas, feelings, and stories get tangled between what I want to express and what the world perceives. It’s in these spaces—where words fall short and emotions run deep—that the concept of “Lost & Found” truly resonates with me.
Lost in Translation, Found in Creation
I’ve often felt like an outsider, navigating a world that doesn’t always make room for the unconventional or the unheard. That sense of being “lost” became the spark for my signature characters, The Lost Digits. Initially inspired by Lego figures, each character is a piece of me—a visual diary of moments when I felt invisible, misunderstood, or simply searching for my place.
The Lost Digits aren’t just faceless figures; they’re fragments of stories, each wearing a crown as a symbol of individuality and equality. Through them, I found a way to process my own journey—transforming feelings of isolation into something tangible, relatable, and, ultimately, empowering. Creating these characters became my way of “finding” myself, one brushstroke at a time.
Homing in on Passion
Art has always been my compass. Even when the path wasn’t clear, the act of creating—whether it’s tattooing, painting, designing and even dancing—became a way to anchor myself. It’s about more than just making something visually appealing; it’s about exploring journeys, both my own and those of others. Every Lost Digits piece is a reminder that being “lost” is often the first step to being “found.” It’s a cycle of discovery, acceptance, and growth.
Building a Platform for Untold Stories: Ink After Dark
Through my own struggles to be seen and heard, I realized how many others feel the same way. That’s why I’m launching Ink After Dark—a YouTube channel dedicated to sharing real stories from real people. It’s a space for tattoo collectors, artists, and anyone who’s ever felt like their story didn’t fit the mainstream narrative.
Ink After Dark isn’t just about tattoos; it’s about the journeys behind the ink, the meaning in the marks we carry, and the conversations that happen after the studio lights go out. My goal is to create a platform where people can feel seen, valued, and inspired—where “lost” voices can finally be “found.”
The Journey Continues
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that being “lost” isn’t a weakness—it’s an invitation to explore, to question, and to create something new. Through The Lost Digits and now Ink After Dark, I’m not just telling my story—I’m building a community where everyone’s journey matters.
So, whether you’re an artist, a collector, or someone just searching for your place in the world, know that you’re not alone. Sometimes, the best parts of ourselves are discovered in the spaces between lost and found.
