“Go With the Flow”: How 50 Cent’s Legacy Tour Reminded Me to Stay Open to Magic
Share
Today, 50 Cent turns 50—and I can’t help but reflect on how, just a few days ago, I ended up at his concert in the most unexpected, go-with-the-flow way. Sometimes, the best nights happen when you just say “yes” and let the universe do its thing.
The Invite I Didn’t See Coming
It all started with my friend, the talented photographer Yomi Kadejo, who casually mentioned he’d be shooting at 50’s concert. I’d already written the whole thing off—tickets were selling out and it felt like one of those “maybe next time” moments. Still, I half-joked, “You able to get me in?” Yomi shrugged, “Oh, you want to go? I’ll see what I can do.” That was that.
Fast forward to the day before the show: Yomi calls me up, channeling 50 himself—“Hey, are you ready to party like it’s your birthday?” Smooth. I barely let him finish before sending over my email for the ticket. Gold Circle standing, no less!

Right Place, Right Time
On the day, I’d been working for five hours straight and figured I’d miss most of the show (A Boogie and Mary J Blige were opening). But fate had other plans—I arrived just in time for Mary. For me, that was perfect. (Side note: Mary J Blige reminds me of my Lost Digits characters—more on that later.)

I found myself just four people deep from the barrier. Yomi shows up, dancing his heart out, and I admit I wanted to get even closer. He’s like, “Come on, let’s get some water,” and we end up two people from the front. Not bad at all.
Then, thanks to two kind women (one gave me her spot, the other shifted over), I ended up right at the barrier. Front row. Perfect view. Perfect energy.

The Show: Pure Vibes
The concert itself? Unreal. The energy was authentic—everyone was just there to have a good time. 50 Cent owned the stage, circulating, connecting, and even making eye contact with my phone a couple of times. It was one of those moments that reminded me why I do what I do: seeing someone who’s spanned decades in their craft, still loving it, still connecting with people. It gave me that push to keep going in my own journey.

Lost Digits & 50 Cent: The Parallel
Watching 50, I couldn’t help but think about the Lost Digits. He’s someone who’s always represented the underdog, the unheard, the ones who hustle for their place. In a way, his story is the story of a Lost Digit—someone who refuses to be just another number, who wears the crown in his own way.

The Backstage Twist
After the show, I waited while Yomi collected his camera from backstage. The head of marketing waved me through—shout out to the girls who tried to G-check me!—and I found myself in the photographer’s area, helping myself to water. Not just any water, but “BBL Spring Water.” (When I find a picture, I’ll share it—it’s a whole vibe.)

After hours on my feet, I just wanted to get home. Sitting on the tube, cradling my water, a random guy asked if he could buy it from me. I laughed him off, but Yomi jumped in—“How much?” The guy pulled out £20 and the whole carriage started chanting “sell the water!” So I did. Who knew my backstage souvenir would end up covering my ride home?

Final Thoughts
That night was a reminder: sometimes you just have to say “yes,” trust your people, and let the story unfold. You never know where you’ll end up—or what you’ll end up selling on the way home.
Happy 50th, 50 Cent. Thanks for the memories, the energy, and the inspiration to keep hustling and telling untold stories.
